NYFW: Custo Barcelona

Custo Barcelona’s A16 show marked his brand’s 20th Anniversary. Custo moves in a new direction of what he calls a “lessened dose of color”. The bright and beautiful patterns that we love still remain, but Custo introduces a playful balance of loud, embellished patterns and  soft textures such as lace and dark snakeskin.

I’m still obsessing over the bright, embellished cross body bags! The shape is so functional and can be perfectly paired with any look. The glossy, asymmetrical skirts were super adorable!

I started Day 2 at  Karigam’s 9 AM “SALTO ANGEL” show. Sleek middle-part ponytails took center stage while designer, Karina Gomez, redefined women’s contemporary wear. Leather and shearling transformed simple business suits into high fashion looks. Chelsea Leyland’s atmospheric beats enhanced the breathtaking simplicity of all forty-six Karigam runway looks.

TADASHI SHOJI

Shoji’s fall collection SLAYED fashion week. My absolute favorite of fashion week so far is the second-skin bodysuit adorned with sapphire jewels. CONCEPT KOREA

Concept Korea is a global project launched in 2010 to expose Korean fashion culture during fashion week. This season, Yohanix and Jarret presented their fall/winter collections. From hipster eyewear to brightly colored booties, Concept Korea presented a strong AW collection.Fur-padded bomber jackets and adorable printed sweaters will definitely prevail as autumn/winter favorites!

#NYFW DAY 1 Recap

With New York City in the midst of chilly winter temps, fashion week attendees must champion above the uncontrollable seasonal elements to make a trendy street-style impact and catch all of the highlights during the AW16 show season. I kicked off fashion week at Jay Godfrey’s presentation at the Space at Clarkson Square and had the pleasure of meeting Jay, himself before the show! Jay’s timeless gowns and jumpsuits served as major day 1 faves.

The forest green jumpsuit adorned with elegant cutouts and bat wing sleeves caught my eye instantly!

The navy blue sequin gown was also a mega standout, but I am unable to pick just one favorite!

BERETS! After viewing Elle’s NYFW preview, I knew berets would be making a major runway appearance during the AW16. Desigual’s key pieces included vibrant turtlenecks, floral-printed outerwear, and adorable winter accessories!

TREND ALERT: PATCHES

I have been obsessed with patched clothing and accessories! I hopped on this trend back in September when I purchased this super cute backpack from Nasty Gal.

I’m currently DIY-ing a military jacket with some patches and pins I’ve collected including a patch from the National Museum of Women in the Arts! The National Museum of Women in the Arts is where the L’Oreal For Women in Science ceremony is held. Styling clothing with patches that are significant to you is such a fun way to present your personality. Sharing your interests through your clothing and accessories is also a great conversation starter!  I recently picked up this super cute patch dress from Zara, which I wore in a photoshoot with James Bartolozzi on Monday.  I love the 3D glasses patch. It reminds me of seeing Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3D back in 2005! Here’s the full pic that I shared on Instagram (@autumngreco ):
