STEM Opportunities 

Turn your passion into action by conducting independent research or by participating in an intensive STEM summer program! A lot of readers have recently reached out asking how they can get involved with research and STEM programs. I’ve compiled a free guide to cutting-edge and competitive internship programs across the country to help you with your search! Below are ten amazing opportunities and I will continue to add more:

Roswell Park Summer Research Program in Cancer Science ( Stipends Available). Seven week independent research program. I received a research stipend through this program and I am willing to talk about my experience! Location: Buffalo, NY with housing available for out-of-town students. Program application open to current high school juniors.

MITES ( Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science) at MIT Free six week- academic residential program. Program application open to current high school juniors.

Summer Science Program 39-day residential enrichment program in astrophysics. Program is open to current high school juniors.There is  a program fee but financial aid is available to cover up to the full cost of program and up to $500 for airfare.

Human Oncology and Pathogenesis Program (HOPP) Summer Student Program Eight week independent research program open to NYC tri-state high school students. Housing and transportation is not available.

SAMS: Summer Academy for Math + Science Free seven week- academic residential program. Program application open to current high school juniors.

Williams College Math Camp (WCMC)  Free ten-day residential math camp for high school students who have completed or are currently enrolled in Algebra 2 or its equivalent.

Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program  Free seven week computer science course with locations across the country. Housing is not available but selected students may apply for transportation stipends.

UC Santa Barbara Research Mentorship Six week research program open to current tenth and eleventh graders. Program dates begin in early June and may conflict with your school schedule so check your calendar before applying.

Summer Research Program in Biomedical Research (SIP) There are four additional programs included in this link. The linked program is the main NIH program for high school students. This is an eight week research program with multiple locations open to students ages sixteen and up by the start of the program.

STEM Camp at Pace Univeristy Two week non-residential academic program for rising high school sophomores to seniors.
